Edu-Pull: A game-changer for education

When Leonard Nangolo Akathingo watched young people spend hours immersed in mobile games, he didn't see a senseless distraction; he saw an opportunity."Games keep learners engaged because they are fun, competitive and rewarding," he says. "I kept asking myself, 'Why can't education feel the same?' That question became a starting point for Edu-Pull."Founded in 2025, Edu-Pull is a Namibian web-based learning platform that transforms studying into an interactive experience through curriculum-aligned quizzes, points, leaderboards and academic tournaments.The platform, which entered its public trial phase in May, caters to grades 4 to 12 learners and is aligned with the Namibian curriculum.Akathingo, a software developer and founder of Ambitious Green Technology Investment CC, believes education should inspire curiosity instead of feeling like an obligation."Many learners only begin revising when exams are around the corner," he says. "I wanted to create something that encourages consistent learning while making the process exciting."While learners are at the heart of Edu-Pull, the platform also equips parents, teachers and schools with tools to monitor progress, create quizzes and host academic competitions. "Education works best when everyone is involved. We wanted to build a platform that connects learners, parents and educators in one space," he says.Building a confident, curious generationOne of Edu-Pull's standout features is its tournament system, where learners qualify by consistently completing quizzes and earning points before competing for educational prizes. "The goal isn't simply to reward winners," Akathingo says. "It's to reward preparation, discipline and the habit of learning every day."Development has continued since launch, with the platform evolving through research, testing and feedback from learners, teachers and schools. For Akathingo, this is only the beginning."My vision is for Edu-Pull to become one of Africa's leading educational competition platforms," he says. "I want every learner to believe that studying can be exciting, every parent to feel connected to their child's academic journey and every school to have access to digital tools that improve learning."Beyond stronger academic performance, he hopes the platform will create opportunities for graduate teachers through curriculum development, learner support and educational content creation. "If we can make learning something learners look forward to, we'll be helping shape a generation that's confident, curious and prepared for the future."
