Happy faces at HappyLand

The Capricorn Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable children through its ongoing partnership with HappyLand Safe Haven, an orphanage in Henties Bay. The foundation recently donated N$397 000 to fund renovations to the girls’ room and kitchen, as well as to support the home’s daily and educational needs.

Founded in 2009, HappyLand Safe Haven provides food, shelter, education and emotional care to children aged 0 to 18 years, including those with disabilities and from diverse backgrounds across Namibia. Since 2023, the Capricorn Foundation has assisted the orphanage with daily necessities and school supplies. To date, the foundation has contributed over N$800 000 to the project, including funds for essential infrastructure improvements.

“During our visit in February 2024, we saw the urgent need for a safer, more permanent structure,” said Veripura Muukua, head of the Capricorn Foundation. “Last year, we funded the boys’ room, and this year we’re supporting renovations to the girls’ room and kitchen with technical assistance from NamiBou. As Connectors of Positive Change, we’re proud to provide not only meals and school supplies but also proper shelter – one of every child’s most basic needs.”

HappyLand founder Carmen Haoses thanked the foundation for its continued support. “Your ongoing commitment has helped us build safe, welcoming rooms for the children, provide nutritious meals, and cover school fees. This support inspires our children to believe in a brighter future,” she said.
