Rita Kakelo

The murder case against Benong !Uri#khob (41) has been postponed to late November to allow police to complete their investigations.

!Uri#khob, who faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence, initially made his second appearance on 8 September for formal bail application. The matter is now postponed to 26 November.

He was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his domestic partner, Rachel Frans (39). They share a young child.

Frans’ body was discovered at her home in Windhoek’s Havana area about two months ago by her 14-year-old daughter after she returned from school. Police said she died from a single gunshot wound on the chest.

Family members, including Frans’ eldest son, Aron Sondag Aron, have identified !Uri#khob as the main suspect, alleging that he had previously threatened to kill her and had a history of abusing her.

!Uri#khob remains in custody at Wanaheda Police Station. The state is represented by prosecutor Blessing Conjwa.
