ECN outlines voter registration rollout for Kavango East
The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) will deploy 48 teams to manage 295 registration points across Kavango East for the supplementary registration of voters (SRV), which will run from 4 to 19 August.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement in Rundu on Wednesday, regional election officer Paulus Shifire said the process will target new eligible voters, update personal details and replace lost or damaged cards.
“Our registration supervisors are already stationed in all constituencies to ensure a smooth rollout,” he said. “A credible voters’ register is essential for free, fair and transparent elections.”
Shifire also urged traditional, religious and political leaders to support voter education efforts and help increase participation ahead of the 26 November polls.
The final voters’ register will be published from 24 to 25 October, with nominations and special voting to follow in the lead-up to election day.
