Over 13 000 enrolled for TVET in 2026
Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) enrolment has reached 13 512 trainees for the 2026 academic year, with women making up the majority of registered students across the country.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport and Culture Dino Ballotti announced the figures yesterday at the official opening of the 2026 TVET calendar year, revealing that 7 432 of the enrolled trainees are female. The students are spread across 71 registered training providers nationwide.
Ballotti described the intake not merely as students, but as “13 512 entrepreneurs” in the making, underscoring government’s emphasis on skills development as a pathway to economic participation and job creation.
He also confirmed that the College of the Arts has officially been incorporated into the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), marking a significant structural shift within the vocational education sector. Government, he said, has been advocating for infrastructure upgrades and renovations at the College of the Arts’ various campuses to strengthen vocational training under the NTA framework.
The incorporation is expected to align the institution more closely with national skills development priorities and broaden access to accredited vocational programmes.
