Okarundu Camping invests in Otjimbingwe learners’ futures

Okarundu Camping last week reinforced its commitment to community development by supporting school fees and donating school shoes to students at Otjimbingwe Primary School in advance of the 2026 academic year.

The initiative, led by campsite manager Salomon Melani, covers N$22 000 in school fees for 110 Grade 1 learners, ensuring that every child beginning their primary education is given a fair start. In addition, 40 pairs of school shoes valued at N$3 000 were donated to learners who are unable to afford proper footwear.

The sponsorship was made possible through a combined contribution of N$25 000 from Okarundu Camping, which further pledged to donate an additional 70 pairs of school shoes to support younger children who were not part of an earlier donation of 30 pairs.

Addressing traditional leaders, school management, parents and community members, Okarundu Camping reaffirmed its passion for improving the lives of children, particularly the youth and the underprivileged in Otjimbingwe.

“Okarundu Camping has shown that our dedication to education is not merely a mission but a lasting legacy,” Melani said.

“This donation is just the latest chapter in our efforts to bring hope and smiles to the future generation of this town.”

Over the past three years, Okarundu Camping has actively supported Khomxadare Kindergarten, donating blankets, toys and food parcels in winter.

The organisation also announced plans to construct two toilets, one for boys and one for girls, at the kindergarten before the end of the year.

This year’s initiative follows learners from kindergarten into primary school, recognising that success begins in Grade 1. While the organisation acknowledged that it is not yet able to support all grades, it expressed hope of working with the broader business community and Samaritans, particularly in the Erongo region, to expand its reach.

“Our motto is to keep the Namibian child in school,” Melani emphasised.

Okarundu Camping extended its gratitude to the Tsoaxudaman Traditional Authority for its continued support, as well as to the school principal, teachers and parents for their partnership and trust.

The organisation expressed its best wishes to Otjimbingwe Primary School, its learners, teachers and parents for a successful 2026 academic year, reaffirming its dedication to supporting education and empowering the community’s future generations.
