Two die in B1 crash near Otavi

Two people died and several others were injured in a collision on the B1 road, about 30 km south of Otavi towards Otjiwarongo, at around 19:20 on Friday.

Otjozondjupa Police spokesperson Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha said the crash reported took place when the driver of a sedan allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and encountered an oncoming minibus.

Both drivers swerved in an effort to avoid a head-on collision but collided after leaving the road. The driver of the sedan and a passenger in the minibus died at the scene. The injured were transported to Otjiwarongo State Hospital. The deceased have not yet been identified, and police investigations are ongoing.
