The knight on the forklift
On a day with so much international attention on Windhoek’s Independence Stadium for late president Hage Geingob’s memorial service, fortunately few people saw this little mishap. A driver in a shiny GRN VIP vehicle must have, moments before, dropped off one of the many high-ranking guests of honour from all over the world on the front side of the white marquee, facing towards the main pavilion. While turning around to leave the stadium, the driver steered one wheel into the steeplechase water hole of the athletics stadium. Fortunately, a member of the backup staff responded very quickly to bring a nearby forklift around and assist in the recovery with minimal fuss. Photos: Andrew Poolman
