SHORT NEWS: Learner migration affects planning: Inspector
During the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Youth, Civic Relations and Community Development’s visit to Kavango East yesterday, Namibian Sun spoke to the region’s education inspector, Pontianus Kamunima, who said the ministry is often hesitant to invest in permanent infrastructure in areas with low learner numbers. He added that frequent learner migrations, driven by parents seeking better economic opportunities, make it challenging to plan sustainably, often leaving schools under-resourced and struggling to maintain consistent enrollment levels.
