#JustIn: Manganese train derails, two killed

A train carrying manganese to Lüderitz derailed about 40km outside Aus yesterday afternoon.

According to TransNamib spokesperson Abigail Raubenheimer, two people died in the accident.

She said four TransNamib officials were on the train during the accident, and the survivors are currently receiving medical treatment.

According to Raubenheimer, the train was hauling twenty wagons, and TransNamib applied its emergency response plan and provided support on the scene.

The families of the deceased have been informed.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
