Gariseb alleges police intimidation over resource complaints
Community activist Sethy Gariseb has accused Okahandja Police Station commander Mathias Tjarimba of intimidation after allegedly being repeatedly summoned by police following his public calls for improved policing resources in the area. Gariseb claims he was threatened with arrest after raising concerns on social media and in the media about a shortage of police officers and the absence of a dedicated police vehicle at the mobile police station in Nau-Aib amid rising crime in informal settlements. He said the matter has since been reported to the Inspector-General, the Ombudsman and legal assistance offices. Tjarimba confirmed receiving the complaint letter but declined to comment further.
