Etunda grape expansion plans hit by fly outbreak

Etunda Farm is keen to expand its grape production and create more jobs, but a persistent fly outbreak is standing in the way, farm manager Sybrand Potgieter said during a visit by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. Responding to a question from the President about expansion plans, Potgieter said the farm would like to increase production and employment. Still, the pest problem remains a major challenge, particularly as its grapes are produced exclusively for the Namibian market. The farm's 15-hectare vineyard was pruned on 15 April. Employee Johannes Nashilongo said workers are currently removing empty grape bunches to protect fruit quality.
