Revolution in medical education

Rebekka Taukondyo (27) is the visionary behind MEDICOS, a fast-paced and entertaining game designed to challenge, educate and unite medical professionals and students worldwide. As a medical intern studying in Cuba, Taukondyo's journey from initial struggles with medicine to the creation of a game that has captured the attention of the global medical community is nothing short of extraordinary.

Growth through challenges

Originating from a flash card method that she personally developed while facing several challenges during her first and second years of medical school, MEDICOS has evolved into a comprehensive educational game encompassing various medical disciplines. From general medicine to paediatrics, cardiology, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. The game is a testament to Taukondyo's commitment to make learning both enjoyable and effective.

“It was just an idea that popped up, and I started working on it non-stop, using boxes to create my first prototype. I then started to do play tests with students and lectures from my university, and I found myself having to carry the game with me each day to school because the students and lectures always wanted to play," she explained.

"A few months later, a medical specialist from the USA invested capital to start manufacturing the game, as he believed so much in the idea. So, I developed the application and started printing to sell on Amazon USA,” she said.

Global attraction

Despite facing obstacles such as a lack of resources, poor internet connectivity in Cuba and limited capital, Taukondyo's persisted.

The game's success on Amazon USA within its first week of launch and the overwhelming global demand, as evidenced by inquiries pouring in from around the world, underscore the impact MEDICOS is making in the medical education sector. “I created a brand that understands the struggles, the efforts and the sacrifices of students and professionals," she said.
