Making the world a haven for all
Making the world a haven for all
Franica Marais of Holy Cross Convent Primary School did not idle and tolerate the horrible events currently happening in the world. She took it upon herself to take initiative and brought her school along with her.
She said: “These attacks on Ukraine are affecting many lives and we as a school can show that we are all for peace in the world. We have the responsibility to make it a better place for our children and their children's children. Our message is that we want no war on this earth”.
Marais, with the support from the school, plans on instigating awareness amongst all outsiders who are interested in making the world a better place by considering all the necessary precautions inclined to heal it from all the wretchedness. “We are against war, save our world!” she declared.
The initiative is nothing but a pure idea to show that there are individuals who are aware of the wretched current affairs that the world is experiencing – the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. The attacks Russia is undertaking against Ukraine are not only affecting the lives of the citizens of Ukraine, but the world at large as an attack on a single country on our planet is an attack on us all. This is visible in the rapid increment of daily commodities.
All members of the public, parents, teachers and learners are joined in solidarity of the current hostility taking place. Standing together against the war and reaching out for peace.
The Holy Cross Convent, just like any other school with a heart out there, is all for peace. The school believes it is people’s responsibility as ethical human beings to make the world a better and more peaceful place for children as well as the generations to come, by striving for greatness in humankind and the obliteration of people’s wicked ways, making ‘conflict’ in generations to come a taboo.
“The Holy Cross Convent cares about people of this earth, and therefore wants to send a strong message through one of the greatest songs ever written to the rest of the world in a display of their kindness and sympathy,” Marais said, and adding that “a small thing can make a huge difference and goes a long way. Maybe the world can be touched through children, as they are the future”.
The Holy Cross Convent is paying respect by singing the song ‘Heal the World’ by legendary artist, the late Michael Jackson.
