November welcomed with rain
News in short
The first weekend of November was greeted with welcome rain that fell over most parts of the country on Sunday and early yesterday morning, also cooling down the extremely hot temperatures experienced last week.
On the ‘Reën in Namibia’ Facebook group, Gavin van Rooi said 12mm fell yesterday morning on a farm 15 kilometres east of Rehoboth, while Brigitta Reiermann Kaempffer said it rained a lot from Sossusvlei to Duwisib Castle, located about 70km southwest of Maltahöhe, since Sunday.
About 7mm was recorded at Usakos on Sunday, while Henties Bay and Swakopmund also received some light rainfall.
Monja Kühne measured 11mm of rain in Karibib yesterday morning, while in Windhoek’s Pionierspark, Hannes Krynauw said he recorded 15mm.
The Namibia Meteorological Services forecasted sunny and warm to hot weather in the northwest today, while elsewhere it will be partly cloudy and warm to hot. A few thundershowers are expected in the Zambezi Region and in the southeast.
