Road transport fare structure announced
The Ministry of Works and Transport has released a list of approved long distance public road transportation passenger prices applicable after the Road Transportation Board approved a 15% increase effective from 18 May 2026. Minister Veikko Nekundi instructs all authorised public passenger road transport operators to charge the prescribed 15% increase or below, “to minimize the effects of the geopolitical tension and the raising international oil prices.” In the statement the ministry recognised the financial pressure from escalating operational costs saying: “These global developments have had a direct neagtive impact on Namibia’s economy, affecting households, businesses, public transport operators and consumers across the country.”
