#JustIn: Police letter to facilitate import of hunting rifles
The Namibian Professional Hunting Association (Napha) says it has now received a letter from the Namibian police that will hopefully facilitate the process for international hunters to register their hunting firearms with airlines when they come to hunt in Namibia.
Napha says this follows numerous requests they have received to assist with temporary import permits for the hunting firearms of international or overseas hunters, who allegedly experience challenges in registering their hunting firearms with airlines in their countries of origin.
"This is a problem because the temporary import permit can only be issued once the guest arrives in Namibia.
"Napha has therefore approached the Namibian police and has been provided with a letter, which explains the situation. We hope that this will be sufficient for airlines to allow hunting firearms to be transported," their latest newsletter of April 7 reads.
Napha further explained that in order to obtain the temporary import permit, several documents must be provided: proof of ownership, a firearm license, proof of export from the country of origin, a motivation letter from the client, an invitation letter from the Namibian hunting farm, as well as any other related documents.
