Swakop Junior Open well contested

The junior tournament is followed by the senior tournament this coming weekend.
The Swakopmund Junior Open tennis tournament was held at the Swakopmund Tennis Club last weekend.
For the second year the tournament was proudly sponsored by Professional Private Wealth Management headed by Michau Basson in conjunction with Caricia Basson Legal Practitioners.
Michau said: “Tennis is very well diversified with players participating from all different backgrounds.
“We believe that with continued commitment from these two sponsors the tournament will grow from strength to strength, as there has been a commitment for the next five years to continue sponsoring the end-of-year junior tournament, as well as the senior tournament (taking place this weekend at the same venue).”
There were 25 entrants over four age groups.
U10 boys singles final: Pwoove Paulus beat GJ Visser 8-1.
U10 boys doubles final: Andre Olivier/Pwoove Paulus beat Christiaan Burger/Daniel Kuschke took 2nd place.
U12 boys singles: Caleb Mootseng won three out of three; Cyrus Basson won two out of three.
U16 Mixed Advanced singles final: Joshua Diergaardt (aged 12) beat Shafishina Shimali (aged 12) 6-3, 6-2.
U16 Mixed Advanced doubles final: Joshua Diergaardt/Emma Zalto beat Lazarus Kanelombe/Emma Brinkmann 6-2, 6-4.
U18 mixed beginner singles final: Daniel Nduw beat Apple Shuro 6-2, 6-0.
U18 mixed doubles final: Daniel Nduw/Juliana Figeretu beat Alicia Hausiku/Apple Shuro 6-4, 6-3.
