Sanlam aspires to enable young athletes by providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and self-confidence.

Sanlam distributed 450 professional soccer balls totalling N$150 000 to teams across Namibia who do not have access to funding or professional sports equipment this year.
One of the beneficiaries of the initiative is the Oshuungu Annual Tournament, represented by Petrus Hamukwaya.
Hamukwaya expressed his appreciation towards Sanlam, underscoring the value tournaments such as these bring to rural communities.
“We can give local entrepreneurs the chance to sell and market their products, instilling pride and unity in these communities.
“We can also give the winners medals and prize money, which many use to support their loved ones. All of this boosts their self-confidence too,” Hamukwaya said.
World-class
Sanlam marketing and communications manager, Denille Roostee believes there is much-unrealised potential among Namibian youth due to limited access to funding and professional infrastructure.
“We are privileged as a country to host so much raw world-class talent, as confirmed by young athletes such as Beatrice Masilingi, Christine Mboma, Jonas Jonas, and Connor Van Schalkwyk, competing in various sports disciplines internationally.
“Many of our athletes possess the commitment, sheer will and discipline. Sanlam aspires to enable these young athletes by providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and self-confidence,” Roostee said.
She explained that with the country-wide initiative, Sanlam aspires to achieve social impact through utilising sport as a tool for development. Sanlam believes that the initiative catalyses social transformation by encouraging participation and bridging national, ethnic, social and religious divides.
Fantastic game
In parallel to the initiative, Sanlam hosted the annual virtual Sanlam Fantasy Football league competition. The initiative is held for football fanatics and other individuals within the Namibian community to engage and stand a chance to win prizes.
The fantasy league entails the English Premier League (EPL) which began on 13 August 2021 and finished 22 May this year.
Sanlam has officially announced the winners of the Fantasy Football league, congratulating the three winners, out of the 4 500 virtual participants, at the handover event last week.
The first prize of a N$20 000 unit trust voucher was awarded to team Omagano FC, under the management of UG Kela.
The runner-up team were Ndjundo FC, managed by Elifas Ngonga, who snatched a N$15 000 voucher.
The final prize of a N$10 000 voucher went to Manager Hesekiel Science and the entire science team who managed to win third place.
