Leicher to the fore as top T20 bowler
Teenage prospect Dylan Leicher emerged as the top wicket-taking bowler of the 2022 Richelieu T20 franchise cricket tournament that concluded yesterday.
Ahead of the final match yesterday afternoon, which concluded after the newspaper’s print deadline, Leicher was already way ahead of any other contender on 13 wickets for the AMH/BA Blasting team.
The next-best wicket-takers over the two weekends of the competition, on five each, were Leicher’s teammate Tangeni Lungameni and XCO/M&M Signs duo Fungayi Hlupo and Donovan Zealand, as well as MR24-7/Namspire captain Karl Birkenstock.
Matthew de Gouveia (MR24-7/Namspire) was the overall top run-scorer ahead of the final (107 runs in four innings), with teammate Birkenstock in second place on 100 runs, ahead of Michau du Preez (AMH/BA Blasting) on 99.
The highest individual batting score of the tournament (ahead of the final) was Gerrie Snyman’s devastating 84 off only 47 balls) for King Price against MR24/7 Namspire.
