Dam eyes podium finish

Namibian looks forward to 800m
After this weekend's fifth-place finish, Namibia's David Dam is eyeing a podium finish in Wednesday's race.

Namibian long-distance runner David Dam took fifth place in the 1 500 metres in a time of 3:54.8 seconds at the Central Gauteng Senior Athletics Championships in Potchefstroom, South Africa, on Saturday.
Dam, from Omaruru Athletics Club, competed in very cold and windy weather but managed to set a personal best time.
He felt real pressure from the Gauteng athletes, which was good exposure for him, said coach Berthold Karumendu.
“The race was fine and I’m happy with my performance and I’m looking forward to Wednesday,” said Dam.
This Wednesday, Dam will compete in the 800 metres at the Grand Prix 4 Continental competition in Germiston.
Last week, Dam set a PB of 1:51.43 seconds in the 800 metres at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix in Potchefstroom and finished third.
