The Namibia Private Schools Organisation (NAPSO) Securitas Private School Sport Week returned to its roots this year as Tsumeb Gymnasium hosted the 18th instalment of this event over the weekend.
The event originally started on the Tsumeb Gymnasium school grounds and since the very beginning has enjoyed the loyal support of Securitas insurance brokers.
Dewald Walters of Securitas said they have been involved since the beginning and every time they come to this event, it is reminder of what a good decision it was to get involved. “I think this is one of the events where we get the closest to our clients and are able to thank them for what they mean to us,” added Walters.
The event is intended to be serve as platform for learners, parents and coaches to come together and revel in one another's company instead of a competitive event - hence a series of friendly matches in rugby, netball, hockey, tennis, jukskei and chess as well as archery being held.
The CEO of the NAPSO and also the man who currently holds the reins at the hosting school Tsumeb Gymnasium, Wouter Niehaus, said he is honoured that the resumption of NAPSO could take place at his school.
Tsumeb Gymnasium waited 3-years to host this event due to consecutive cancellation as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We are back together as friends, it is so wonderful to have hosted this event again," said Niehaus.
Henry Kemp, the sports director for Walvis Bay Private High School (WBPHS), said the upgrading of their facilities will start as soon as they return from Tsumeb.
"We are starting the preparation of our rugby fields today. We are also building four new netball courts in preparation of next year's event," he said.
