Two teams gear for Malawi
Youngsters shadow senior squad
Two netball teams which will participate in the Cosana Tournament have been announced.
The Debmarine Desert Jewels Senior national team as well as the Under-19 national side will compete in June in the Confederation of Southern African Netball Associations (Cosana) tournament.
In a statement on Tuesday, Netball Namibia (NN) said the two teams will use the tri-nations series as preparatory engagements for the all-important Africa World Cup Qualifiers which will take centre stage from 20 to 25 August in Pretoria, South Africa, as well as the Region Five Youth Games scheduled for Malawi in December.
The senior team was selected during the 2022 MTC Netball Premier League that concluded its first leg round last weekend. In this league, Mighty Gunners lead.
In regard to the U-19s, NN explained that any junior team in an ideal set-up should shadow the national team. Also, the decision was made to include the juniors as they haven’t had any action for a while.
The senior team consists of the following players:
Louise Kausehue, Jessica Nandova, Anna Kasper, Eve Kamutushi, Rauna Nonsheni, Emmy Kutako, Nelandre Mostert, Tusneld Fillemon, Berne Nel, Loide Hanyana, Leandri van der Walt, Anna Shipanga, Imbileni Frans, Marth Ndeshi Shaambeni, Pupe Kandovazu, Rachalle Roetz, Venjee Maharero, Zante Farmer, Monica Gomases, Ivondia Tjiposa, Cornelia Mupenda, Mwale Mulenamaswe, Tjeripo Kambirongo, Monique Basson, Sunshine Murangi and Tjimbakavaza Tjipetekera.

Head coach: Sunette Burden, assistant coach: Antoinette Wentworth, team manager: Malan Frey and team doctor: Maria Kashopolo.

Sarah Awases, Elizabeth Besser, Anna Danny, Simone Cochran, Anna Danny, Zuraya Garises, Muhimise Jaepa, Meagan Le Roux, Hope Kaizemi, Mezeri Kakuenje, Liode Kanyolo, Angelika Katjepaha, Tuvemue Kaventuna, Innocentia Masati, Grace Matyayi, Athieliah Mbaha, Usuta Muvangua, Elizabeth Shirley, Desdamona Tjirera and Ashanti Zaahl.
The technical team consists of: head coach: Tjatinda Tjihero, assistant coach: Jones Kangu Musambani and manager Isador Nell.
The technical director for both sides is Marvellous Khaebes-Ochar.
