MTC Dome CEO Fanus Engelbrecht has invited the public to flock to the high-performance centre in Swakopmund as the Namibia Annual Sport Expo commences in Swakopmund today.

As of yesterday, the final touches and placements of exhibitor stalls were being completed ahead of what is expected to be a life-changing moment for many athletes and sports fans.

During an exclusive interview yesterday, Engelbrecht assured Namibia Media Holdings that the expo is set to be an experience of a lifetime.

“We are very excited about what is going to happen in the next few days.

“The aim of this expo is to enable people to showcase what is happening in sport in Namibia and to educate Namibian sports fanatics about Namibian sport,” Engelbrecht remarked.

Something for everyone

The CEO confirmed that 18 sport federations have confirmed their presence at the event.

The Namibian Olympic Committee will also be present, as well as 30 other stands that will exhibit sport-related items.

“We have plenty of activities from the community including a boxing exhibition slated for Friday.

“I therefore encourage all interested members of the general public to register for the event.”

The Namibian Archery Association will also host a competition on Saturday as well as other entertainment.

Talk about it

One of the key aspects of the expo will be the two-day conference that starts today and ends on Friday.

Sport sponsorships, indigenous sport in the modern world, and evidence that collaboration unlocks potential in sport are among the topics on the table.

Levelling the playing field and sharing significant stories of special and para-athletes will open proceedings on the Friday slot of the conference.

“On Thursday, there is no fee to be charged, but Friday and Saturday will require members of the public to pay N$50 per adult, while children enter for free,” Engelbrecht said.
