Martial arts competition heads to Namibia
Ring Contact Fighting Arts Namibia (RCFA) will be hosting its International Championships in Windhoek on 4 November.
Dubbed the 'Namibia War', the event will be hosted annually and is expected to attract some of the best martial arts fighters the continent has to offer.
“RCFA Namibia will host the first ever Namib War 2023 International Tournament scheduled for 4 November 2023 here in Windhoek at the Wanderers Sports Ground in Pionierspark, Windhoek,” a statement read.
The event will bring together 80 of the best martial artists from Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, offering the sport an unparalleled platform to showcase their capabilities as an international tournament.
Ring Contact Fighting Arts is sanctioning the fights, giving the fighters an opportunity to get participation medals.
Details
The event will be hosted on a popular martial arts tatami mat and a boxing ring.
Organizers say they are using the boxing four-corner ring until they are able to find a sponsor for a hexagon ring.
All rules and protocols will be followed, with the tournament being managed and controlled via Martial Arts Tournament Management Software.
RCFA is a martial arts discipline created in South Africa in 1984 by the visionary Master Joe Viljoen.
Vision
Viljoen wanted to create a martial art that moved away from the so-called points fighting system, provided full contact, and allowed the martial artist to defend himself in the unique circumstances of South Africa and now Namibia.
“We are immensely proud of our accomplishments thus far. Our events are streamed internationally live on social media platforms, and our YouTube channel boasts over 1 500 subscribers with an impressive monthly viewership of approximately 200 000 and is growing exponentially.
“Through these channels, we provide a captivating platform to showcase the extraordinary talent and skills of our RCFA warriors,” the statement notes.
