All set for Okajo MTB & Run

Sport Reporter
All roads will lead to Okajo Safari Lodge this Saturday for the Hollard Okajo MTB & Run. The lodge is situated 20 km from Wihelmstal on the way to Omaruru. This event is the fourth race in the Gravel & Dirt marathon, with the riders raring to outshine each other.

The first Okajo race took place in 2021 and its success motivated organisers to host the event at the same place again.

“This year we offer a 10 km and a 20 km trail run, as well as a 10km kids ride and a 20km fun ride for those who want to participate in the mountain bike (MTB) section,” event organisers said.

The race starts at 09:00 and the cut-off time is at 13:00, followed by a prize-giving event.

“It is an easy 20 km gravel road from Wilhelmstal to Okajo Lodge and smaller cars can easily travel there.

“Since the area is very flat, and most routes are smooth, it is an ideal event for beginners and the whole family to participate as well as for the advanced who can push for time as it’s a fast route.”

The event is expected to attract 250 participants in all categories, from 80 km to the quicker 10 km MTB as well as the 10 km and 20 km running categories.

“Delicious food will be sold at the event, and the famous sosaties will be available again.
