It was one-way traffic, with the Kudu Premier League team defeating Reho Falcon 71-3, while the First League Kudu team defeated Reho Falcon 50-17 at Jan Wilken Stadium on Saturday.Playing conditions were perfect for the first Kudu home games in the harbour town, and the crowd came out in droves. The floodgates opened with the Kudu Premier League team scoring 11 tries and eight conversions, while the only points for Reho Falcon came from a converted penalty kick.Hard workThe Kudus captain and eight-man Joshua Jacobs, with adequate support from his pack of forwards, had a storming game.Jacobs scored two tries for the side coached by Gawan Esterhuizen and Quinton Simon (assistant).The other try scorers were hooker Jarren Koning, blindside flanker Zwandre Viviers, openside flanker Mogamat Ali Emamdien, leftwing Zane Williams, inside centre Alastiar Miller, outside centre Justin Newman, rightwing Ronaldo Diergaard, fullback Rayton Paulse, and substitute Sydney Halupe. Flyhalf Geraldo Beukes converted six tries, with Paulse and substitutes Percy Nash and Scott Winborn each adding one conversion.Jacobs said that the squad had to work hard to put up such a massive score."This was our target, and we achieved it. The whole team did well. Next weekend we have a big away game against Wanderers, so we have our work cut out for us." He added that the aim is to go all out and win the Premier League this year."We did not have the start we wanted against United last week. We prepared and worked on our mindset. Last year we faltered, and we want to correct that with the talent we have at our disposal."TroubleReho Falcon captain and flyhalf Brandon Dentlinger converted a penalty for the side coached by Frank Meyer and Eden Isaack (assistant). "Things did not go the way we planned. The Kudu forwards and their scrumming really caused trouble for us. It was a good game, and it is always a pleasure to come and play at the coast," commented Dentlinger. Lock Edmando Coetzee said the team struggled last year. "We have a relatively young squad. The plan is to build the team and to show our opponents that we are not only here to fill up the numbers but to compete."First League actionThe Kudu first team scored eight tries and four conversions. Blindside flanker Henri Rossow and eight-man Franco Vries each scored two tries. Prop Tiaan Arangies, fullback Scot Winborn, and substitutes Roberto Lensey and Jaco Lootz also touched down for the Kudus.Leftwing Franklin Bush added four conversions and Brandon Seister converted one of the tries. Reho Falcon managed to score two tries, two conversions and a penalty. Fullback Breyton Snyders and lock Izador Jansen visited the chalked line, while outside centre and captain Sven van Wyk converted one try and two penalties for the side coached by Frank Isaacks and Eden Meyer (assistant).
