The stage is set for the "Road to the World Title" fights taking place in the capital as the boxing stable announces 10 supporting bouts to the main fight of Saturday night.
Promoter of MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Boxing Promotions has announced the undercard for this weekend’s boxing bonanza at the Windhoek Country Club.
The line-up will serve as the supporting bouts for the WBO Africa Super Bantamweight clash between Namibia’s Fillipus ‘Energy’ Nghitumbwa and South Africa’s Mxolisi Zuma on Saturday night.
“A total of 10 undercard fights will take place before the main bout of the night. This means the first fight will start at 18:30, and that’s why we encourage fans to arrive early.
It’s going to be a big night, one that boxing lovers should not miss for anything,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.
The first bout of the night will feature Paulus Filipus and Samuel Martin, who will square off in a four-round super-bantamweight contest.
Dula Benjamin and Divas Mungongo will then trade leather in a four-round bantamweight bout, followed by another super-bantamweight clash between Joseph Kautondokwa and Ananias Njimbe—both making their professional debuts.
The next fight on the card will see Sem Mathew take on Paulus Shonena in a six-round featherweight contest, while Martin Mukungu faces Andreas Endjala.
Nestor Thomas and John Herman will clash in a six-round bantamweight bout.
The stable will then present a national bantamweight title fight between Erastus Shapaka and Fabianus Lamek over 10 rounds.
Shapaka enters the title fight with a professional record of two wins and one draw, while Lamek has won just one of his four professional outings.
The evening will continue with another title fight, as Fredrick Nghutunanye exchanges blows with Abel Joseph for the national featherweight title, also over 10 rounds.
Nghutunanye boasts an impressive record of 10 wins from 10 fights, while Joseph has four wins and five losses from nine professional bouts.
Naftalie Sheyapo and Tobias Festus will battle it out in a heavyweight fight before Joy Nangolo and Tobias Amunyela face off in a bantamweight bout, which will serve as the curtain-raiser to the main event between Nghitumbwa and Zuma.
VIP tables (seating 10) are priced at N$20,000, while standard tickets will be available for just N$200.
