Steven Johns tops in 'feeshing' rivalry

Swakopmund’s Rössmund Golf Club (RGC) held its monthly “feeshing” competition hosted by long-term sponsor Pescanova /Novanam last weekend.
A healthy field of 30-plus golfers competed in search of those all elusive boxes of fish up for grabs to the winners.
The RGC Monthly Medal is a merit list event, as the players are allocated points depending on their finishing position each month. The one with the most points at the end of each year earns an extra award (green jacket) as the “Medal Master”.
With just one more month to go, the current annual standings as at September were: Men’s division: Hans Naobeb (120); Douw van Wyk (110); Achmet Abrahams (102); Ladies division: Rina Knight (73); Tiekie de Wet (43). Junior division: Rudi Auseb Junior (42); Vigo Kotze (38).
The overall winner of the medal competition for October was Steven Johns (69 nett); A division: Hans Naobeb (73 nett); B division: Mark Jacobs (77 nett, count-out); C division: John Redman (73 nett); Ladies division: Rina Knight (70 nett); Junior division: Benjamin van Wyk (73 nett).
Two-clubs were achieved by Fritz Coetzee II and Hans Naobeb.
- The club reminds all its golfers that the 2025 Interbranch Sages Tournament, sponsored by FNB Namibia, will take place from 3 to 7 November for the 40th consecutive year. A field of 70 or more golfers per day are expected from all corners of Namibia and South Africa.
