Salute pits Filipino in title fight against Nghutenanye
Boxing
MTC Salute Boxing Promotions has announced a boxing bonanza scheduled for Helao Nafidi on 20 December.
The boxing stable will honour president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and the event is set to become an annual fixture.
Namibian flyweight prospect Fillemon Nghutenanye will headline the event against Ramel Macado Jr of the Philippines.
The two will trade leather with Nghutenanye launching a second challenge at winning the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global title.
Promoter and owner of the Salute Boxing Academy, Kiriata Kamanya, is inviting the fans to come in numbers and support the stable and the fighters.
“We are taking this event to the north as we honour the president of Namibia with an annual boxing bonanza.
“We are planning to have something special for our fans, even if it is a cow that we will slaughter there in order for people to come and eat.
“There are a number of top boxers who will be in action on the night, including some of the upcoming talent,” Kamanya said.
Macado travels to Africa
The Namibian boxer Nghutenanye will go into the fight with a record of 13 professional wins, with two draws and one loss in 16 professional fights.
He comes up against Macado, a man with 10 wins and a single draw, while losing only one fight in his professional career.
The 30-year-old Filipino nicknamed “The Sharp” built up a 17-5 amateur record from 2014 to 2019, before joining the paid ranks as a fighter. All of his professional bouts so far has taken place in the Philippines.
Fredrich Nghiyolwa, spokesperson of the academy, says they are preparing everything in order to make the event a success.
“I think it is important to note that we will have the stable’s finest boxers and this event will be good for the boxers.
“The fact that this event is in honour of the current president of Namibia is also something special on its own.
“We are calling on the people from the north and other areas to flock the Helao Nafidi business expo for this historic event,” Nghiyolwa said.
