The Central Volleyball Association (CVA) League’s sixth-week matches will be played simultaneously on three courts this Saturday at Ramatex Hall in Windhoek.

Competing on Court A, Afrocat E will take on City of Windhoek at 09:00 in the men’s division.

University of Namibia (Unam) Kings will take on Unam Kings D in a much-anticipated derby at 11:00.

Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust) Falcons will go up against Kudos at 13:00.

The sole women’s fixture on this court will see log leaders Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) take on Unam Queens B at 15:00, before the final match of the day, where Afrocat D will clash with City of Windhoek at 17:00 in the men’s division.

Court B fixtures

With only men’s teams competing on Court B, Training Establishment will open their campaign by taking on unbeaten defending champions NamPower at 09:00.

Afrocat D will face Afrocat E in a much-anticipated derby at 11:00, before NamPower returns to the court to face Unam Kings D at 13:00.

Training Establishment will also return to the court at 15:00 to face Nust Falcons, before the court’s closing match, where Kudos take on Unam Kings at 17:00.

Court C fixtures

Meanwhile, most women’s teams will compete on Court C, with Nust facing Afrocat Titans at 09:00, City of Windhoek taking on Unam Queens B at 11:00, and City Warriors going up against Afrocat Titans at 13:00.

The final women’s fixture will see City of Windhoek take on Afrocat Ladies at 15:00, with the court’s closing match seeing men’s teams Namibia Defence Force (NDF) Hurricanes lock horns with Afrocat E at 17:00.

The CVA chairperson, Veronica Sampapi, described the league as having been exciting so far.

“We've managed to secure an indoor venue at Ramatex, which has been a major boost, allowing us to host up to three matches at the same time. It has made the schedule much more efficient,” she said.

Sampapi added that there has been noticeable improvement across most clubs:

“Players have come in strong, as the league is at an intense stage where teams are battling to be the best.

“What has been most rewarding is the high turnout from the crowd. Volleyball fans have been showing up in great numbers. The energy and support from the community have been incredible.

“It’s a clear sign that the sport is growing and gaining the recognition it deserves.”
