Pro-Ed keep another visitor scoreless

Compack Tsumeb Gymnasium was outplayed at Pro-Ed Academy on Saturday.
The first rugby team of PSG Pro-Ed Academy defeated Compack Tsumeb Gymnasium 29-0 in an entertaining Standard Bank Namibia Secondary School Rugby (NSSR) U19 Super League match played at Pro-Ed in Swakopmund on Saturday.
Pro-Ed established a 7-0 lead in the sixth minute. Tsumeb launched concerted efforts, but couldn’t break through the home team’s firm defence. Pro-Ed also kept OK Foods Moria scoreless the previous weekend (44-0) on the same field.
A 13th minute penalty goal increasing the lead to 10-0, but despite Tsumeb upping their pace, Pro-Ed went into half-time 17-0 ahead.
Pro-Ed’s four tries were scored by tighthead lock Jivaldo Pienaar, fly-half Maughan Jarman, outside centre Tayton Saunders and open-side flanker JP Campbell. Jarman was also accurate with three conversions and a penalty goal.
Pro-Ed’s captain Maughan Jarman said it was an enjoyable, but tough game. “We wasted a lot of possession from which we could have capitalised, but we’ll fix all those minor errors in our game against WBPS next weekend. It’s always tough playing against WBPS, but we will bring our all and we hope that they do too.
Pro-Ed coach Thys Saunders said: “I don’t think there are any easy teams in the Super League. Our scrums and lineouts went well and the backline did well in attack also.
“Sometimes we made it difficult for ourselves with wrong decision-making when we were on the front foot, or trying to off-load when it wasn’t on. Defence was good too. I’m very proud and happy for the boys.”

Pro-Ed’s first boys’ team defeated PSS 8-1 in a hockey match played at the Pro-Ed Academy in Swakopmund.
WBPS second girls’ team defeated Pro-Ed II 4-1, while Pro-Ed’s first girls’ team defeated PSS by 4-0 in a thrilling match.
