Parker replaces NNOC’s secretary general (SG), Joan Smit, to assume the full-time role president Ndeulipula Hamutumwa described as transitioning from the voluntary SG role, in keeping with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) standard.
In a statement issued by the committee yesterday, it expressed confidence that with her at the helm, it is poised to inspire and support Namibian athletes to achieve their highest potential.
“Parker brings a wealth of experience in sports administration, strategic leadership and a deep commitment to advancing Namibia’s Olympic Movement and Commonwealth Sport, making her the ideal candidate to lead the NNOC into a new era of excellence,” the statement read.
