The MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy, co-sponsored by PstBet in conjunction with the Khomas Boxing Federation, has announced that it will be organizing a boxing event for the youth this weekend.

The event will be in the form of an amateur boxing development program slated for Saturday at the After School Centre in Windhoek’s Grysblok area.

Promoter Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias says the event has been planned with the aim of developing the youth and ensuring that the future of boxing remains in good hands.

“This event focuses on the development of young talent to ensure the future of Namibian boxing is as bright as ever.

“It also aims at demonstrating to our government that boxing is thriving and requires more support to produce future world champions.

“At MTC Sunshine Academy, our mission remains to develop more talent to replace the current champions in the near future,” Tobias said.

Tobias stated that his stable’s commitment towards boxing in the country is documented in their boxing profile.

Producing world champions Paulus “Hitman” Moses, Paulus Ambunda and Julius Indongo – not to mention a host of African continental title holders over the years – is one metric that Tobias feels speaks volume regarding the amount of development they have given to boxing.

Tobias named Jeremiah Nakathila, Paulinus Ndjolonimus, Phillipus “Energy” Nghitumbwa and Mateus “Beast” Heita – all current or recent African champions – as further testament to what the stable has done as far as producing and developing.

“Namibia is rich in boxing talent, which is why we have teamed up with the Khomas Boxing Federation to help the youth realize their potential.

“The upcoming talent was once again clearly showcased during the recent Khomas Boxing Federation Championship, supported by the Namibia Boxing Federation.”

The promoter lauded the national federation for supporting grassroots boxing .

“A big thanks goes to the Namibia Boxing Federation for supporting grassroots boxing.

“On Saturday, 18 October, all ringside officials will be ready to make sure everything goes smoothly, and the medical team will be present as well.”

The event will be graced by a number of female boxing officials whom Tobias revealed are working their way in the amateur boxing ranks.

The event will kick off at 14:00 at the school on Saturday.
