Nedbank for Good Series heads north
The Nedbank for Good Series will head north for rounds five to seven, with 3 competitions set to take place in Oshakati, Tsumeb and Grootfontein in June and July.
The last event of the Nedbank for Good Series was hosted in Outjo on 30 May, and strong participation clearly demonstrated the growing momentum the series has generated since it began earlier this year.
It also successfully brought together golfers from various regional clubs, which demonstrates that interest in the sport is expanding beyond traditional urban areas.
Local favourite golfer, Human Prinsloo, won the men's division with 33 points. Yolanda Pienaar from Oranjemund won the ladies' division with 38 points, successfully defending her title.
Oshakati Golf Club will host round five of the series on Saturday, with Tsumeb Golf Club hosting round six on 27 June. Grootfontein Golf Club will host round seven of the series on 18 July, which will conclude this year’s tour.
Grootfontein to host again
This will be the second consecutive year that Grootfontein hosts the Nedbank for Good Series after its debut last year alongside Outjo and Okahandja, which organisers have lauded as a huge success.
The proceeds from this year's Nedbank for Good Series will directly benefit Agra ProVision, the technical services and consultancy division of Agra Limited.
Agra was established to provide structured training, agronomic advice and technical support to the country’s agricultural sector.
Agra ProVision focuses on improving agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability and socio-economic empowerment among commercial, emerging and communal farmers.
The northern itinerary will provide local communities with a direct opportunity to experience and engage with a sport that has historically been centralised.
The tour also marks a critical phase in Nedbank Namibia’s ongoing efforts to champion grassroots sport development and expand the geographic reach of golf across the country.
This year, the Nedbank for Good Series completed successful tournaments at the Windhoek Golf Club on 21 February, Okahandja Golf Club on 7 March and Outjo on 30 May.
National tournament standards
The series organiser, Dan Zwiebel, said that participants in the northern region can expect a professionally organised golf experience that is strictly aligned with national tournament standards.
“These events will provide a competitive and inclusive tournament structure designed to captivate fans, ensuring that seasoned players and developing talents compete on an equitable platform.
“They will also offer significant networking opportunities among business executives, civic administrators and community leaders, fostering institutional collaborations that extend well past the sporting arena,” said Zwiebel.
Nedbank Namibia’s spokesperson, Selma Kaulinge, said the bank’s long-term commitment to golf development reflects its broader corporate philosophy of driving sustainable, positive change.
“At Nedbank Namibia, our enduring commitment to golf is driven by our purpose to be money experts who do good, a philosophy that is beautifully embodied by the Nedbank for Good Series since its inception in 2020.
“Through this series, Nedbank continues to champion grassroots sport development by breaking down traditional barriers and fostering inclusive participation across the country,” said Kaulinge.
She added that by intentionally expanding the tournament into the northern region, including Outjo, Oshakati, Tsumeb and Grootfontein, the organisers are deliberately widening the reach of golf, making the sport accessible to all Namibians.
Social impact
According to Kaulinge, sport development must go hand in hand with social impact.
“The Nedbank for Good Series directly fuels economic and community upliftment, with tournament proceeds channelled to Agra ProVision.
“These funds are critical for agricultural development and specialised training for various communities, including persons with disabilities.
“We are immensely proud of how the tournament unites corporate sponsorship, passionate golfers and grassroots empowerment to drive meaningful national development.”
Following the conclusion of the northern rounds in July, the Nedbank for Good Series will move to the southern and coastal circuits before the finals in Windhoek in November.
In the south, Mariental Golf Club will host the series on 1 August, followed by a shift to the coast, where the Rossmund Golf Course in Swakopmund will be the centre of attraction on 29 August.
Walvis Bay Golf Club will be the host on 5 September, with Henties Bay Golf and Lifestyle Estate concluding the coastal tour on 12 September.

The series will then move to Omeya Golf Club on 26 September, before the final at Windhoek Golf Club on 13 November.
