Namib Daughters vow recovery path

Namib Daughters FC coach Ryaan Matsi is optimistic that a two-week break from the FNB Women’s Super League will give his team enough time to reassemble and play better football. Matsi said this after his club was beaten 4-0 by Windhoek City FC in the FNB Women’s Super League on Saturday at the NFA Technical Stadium.The team from the coast failed to provide much flair or energy, as they conceded easy goals against a determined Windhoek City FC.Daughters blamed their miseries on the absence of their regular goalkeeper as they were forced to use an outfield player in goal for the entire match. The coach however feels there is more to fix than just the goalkeeping errors when the league goes on a three-week break. “You know, we lost that match against Windhoek City FC due to some mistakes we made in the match. “We did not have our regular goalkeeper and had to put an outfield player in goal for that match and it cost us dearly.“We are however going back to the drawing board in order to fix all the mistakes because we have enough time to do so,” Matsi said. Windhoek City happy with victory Windhoek City FC coach Hafeni Ndeitunga on the other had said he was pleased with the fact that his team was victorious on the day. Ndeitunga still felt his team could have scored more goals against a vulnerable Namib Daughters team. “One has to be happy that we got the points on the day, but I felt we could have done more because we allowed them to play in the second half.“I am happy that the girls made sure that we had a comfortable victory against our opponents. “We have a break coming up and one of the important things to focus on is to work on maintaining the pace of the game, because I feel we got our foot off the paddle in the second half and it is not something I enjoy watching as a coach,” he said.WalkoverOkahandja FC and Beauties FC match that was scheduled to take place on Friday night did not happen after the former failed to travel to Windhoek.The club cited a lack of funds as the reason why they failed to honour their fixture.On Saturday, Ongos FC defeated Arrows Ladies 4-1 in their match at the NFA Technical Stadium.
