Matheus gets support ahead of Fuzile fight

Namibian junior lightweight boxer Sem Matheus will feature in the main bout of a boxing event in East London on Saturday when he faces the experienced South African Azinga Fuzile.
Fuzile is looking to rebound after an unsuccessful attempt at claiming the vacant IBF inter-continental title in April this year, which brought his professional record to 18 wins (12 knockouts) and three losses.
“Golden Boy” took on unbeaten Kazakhstan fighter Sultan Zaurbek (20-0) on the latter’s home soil in Astana, but was beaten by unanimous points decision over ten rounds.
Fuzile’s previous fight was a sixth-round technical knockout of Namibia’s Sebastianus Natanael when they met in East London in August 2024.
Meanwhile Matheus – who has been preparing hard for his first professional fight outside the borders of Namibia – will be accompanied by his trainer Tobias Naule from Golden Boxing & Fitness Academy when they depart on Tuesday.
The Namibian fighter turned professional in March 2018 and has since accumulated eight wins (three by knockout), four losses and three draws. His losses were all on points, with no knockout registered against him.
Matheus’ most well-known opponent so far has been the upcoming prospect Flame Nangolo, currently the WBO African title holder in their junior lightweight (a.k.a. super featherweight; limit 59 kg) division. The two fought for six rounds at the Windhoek Country Club in December 2020, with Nangolo gaining a unanimous points win.
CastleBet has shown its support for the boxer and his career with a contribution of N$20 000 handed over by Mr Divard Augusto on Saturday.
