Reigning title holders African Stars added a 1-0 win against Civics.
In a string of football matches in Debmarine Namibia Premier League on Saturday, teams put their best foot forward to consolidate their positions before the Christmas break.
These matches stretched to different towns in Namibia, with top-three contenders Khomas Nampol and FC Ongos competing in Windhoek at the Independence Stadium.
Despite a rocky first half, Khomas Nampol walked off as 3-0, with one goal by Absalom Iimbondi and two by George Frans.
“We had to revisit our drawing board after we realized that our initial strategy was failing us,” Khomas Napol coach Fortune Eichab said afterward.
The police team seemed to struggle to penetrate the strong defence of FC Ongos, but later managed to break the deadlock after restrategizing.
FC Ongos’s Oswaldo Xamseb expressed disappointment in his team’s performance; however, he maintained positivity in their ability to improve in the next match they had to rush towards travelling to, in Karasburg against Young Brazilians yesterday afternoon.
In matches in other towns during this weekend’s round, Eeshoke Chula Chula drew their home match at Oshakati 0-0 with Blue Waters; Orlando Pirates lost to Tigers 0-1, African Stars defeated Civics by 1-0, Young Brazilians vs Young African and Might Gunners vs Okahandja United ended in 1-1 draws; Okakarara Young Warriors lost 0-1 to Life Fighters and Julinho Sporting vs UNAM FC had a final score of 0-0.
