Jung, Van Lill card 47 for Better Ball crown
Gustav Jung and Chris van Lill combined for 47 points to win Windhoek Golf Club’s Better Ball Competition in the capital on Saturday.
The pair topped the 56-player field by two points, with Alois Nyandoro and Dignity Moyo taking second place on 45, while Claud Abrahams and Gelson Gideon completed the podium with 44 points.
In the Better Ball format, both golfers in a pair play their own ball, with the better score between them on each hole counting towards the team’s total.
Windhoek Golf Club captain Toady Gurirab described the competition as a rewarding outing, saying the 56-player field produced resilience and quality golf across the course.
Closest to the pin
Danie van Schoor claimed two of the four nearest-to-the-pin honours, producing the closest efforts on holes nine and 17.
Junbog Wee took the prize on the third hole, while Jano “JT” van der Walt was closest to the pin on the 13th.
Natasja Louw, Wico Coetzee and Dietrich Schrywer also walked away with lucky-draw prizes sponsored by The Corner Butcher.
Windhoek Golf Club will next host an individual Stableford competition this weekend.
