India High Commission hosts World Cup-bound hockey team

Namibia’s junior men’s hockey team was yesterday hosted by the India High Commission of Namibia ahead of their participation at the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Men’s Junior World Cup.
The biennial global showpiece will unravel in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu from 28 November to 10 December, featuring 24 countries showcasing the world’s best emerging talent.
With a strict eligibility requirement requiring players to be under the age of 21, the tournament offers young athletes the perfect platform to unleash their skills and gain invaluable experience on one of hockey’s biggest stages in the world.
During their send-off by the Indian High Commissioner, Rahul Shrivastava, they were praised for qualifying to compete on one of the biggest stages in youth hockey.
Shrivastava encouraged the players to not only compete with pride but also use their off time to explore India, especially Chennai and Madurai, to learn, grow and embrace the nation’s rich culture.
