Haseb retains Northern Open crown
Wensley Haseb successfully defended his Northern Open title after winning the 2026 edition at Tsumeb Golf Club over the weekend.
The tournament, hosted under the Namibia Amateur Golf Union (NAGU), brought together more than 40 of the country’s amateur golfers across A, B and C divisions.
Haseb carded 145 gross over 36 holes to win the A division gross title by one stroke ahead of Jackson Kawaya and Edwin Kutara, who both finished on 146 gross.
Following his victory, Haseb said retaining the title was a special moment after the work he had put into his game.
“It was an incredible feeling. All the hard work, early mornings and sacrifices suddenly felt worth it,” he said.
“Holding that trophy for the second time is a memory I won’t forget, not just for me, but for everyone who has supported me along the way.”
Haseb said defending the title required consistency, discipline and patience through both good and difficult rounds.
“Winning the 2026 Northern Open is a huge milestone, but it’s also motivation to keep pushing forward,” he added.
“My goal is to continue improving, compete at an even higher level, and represent my club and Namibia with pride. This win is a stepping stone, not the finish line.”
