FNB WSL coaches expect standards to rise
Goals galore in league
Coaches in the FNB Women's Super League expect the standard of football to improve as players get more game time.
The FNB Namibia Women's Super League is picking up steam as teams played their second and third matches of the season.
Some of the teams, however, once again suffered heavy defeats, conceding over six goals in a single match.
This was the case during the first weekend, when some clubs conceded the same number of goals.
The high scoring victories and defeats are however expected to drop as the season continues.
Time needed
Namib Daughters coach Ryaan Matsi said he expects the players and teams to improve going forward.
His side lost 5-2 to Khomas Nampol FC on Saturday after an intriguing match at the NFA Technical Centre in Windhoek.
"It is no secret that the teams really need game time in order to raise the standards because we know many of these players have not seen action for a number of years now,” he said.
"We are, however, confident that the standard will improve as the season continues and fewer goals will be scored and conceded.
"We have a young team because many of our experienced players went, but as a team, we will continue striving for better results," Matsi said.
Work continues
Arrows Ladies against Girls and Goals was one of the matches that produced the list of goals on Saturday.
The two teams were evenly matched in the opening stages, despite the Girls and Goals team having the most players with national team experience of the two sides.
The quality from Girls and Goals, however, started appearing as they defeated the Arrows Ladies 3-1.
"We won our last weekend match, and this time around we did not beat Girls and Goals.
"Yes, there have been plenty of goals scored and conceded already, but I am sure the players and coaches will work on that as the season continues," Arrows Ladies coach Salmon Nakale said.
The rest of the coaches that Sport Wrap spoke to over the weekend echoed the same sentiments.
On Saturday, NUST FC lost 3-1 to Okahandja Beauties, while V-Power Angels FC thrashed Okahandja FC 7-1.
Ongwediva Queens also put seven goals past Omaheke Queens FC with no reply away from home, while the Unam Bokkies FC beat Ramblers Angels 5-2.
