Namibia's premier horse racing event returns to Rehoboth this Saturday as the Castlebet July Cup takes centre stage, with top jockeys, trainers and horses set to battle for honours in a packed 19-race programme.

Backed by a N$300,000 sponsorship from Castlebet, the 2026 edition is expected to attract thousands of racing enthusiasts from across the country for a day of elite competition and entertainment.

The highlight of the meeting is the Castlebet Cup, a gruelling 2,200-metre feature race carrying a N$50,000 prize purse. Fourteen runners have been declared for the main event, including Desert Fox, Unbroken Promises, Woodland Ridge, Imperial Ruby, Crystal Maiden, Chief Helmet and Golden Rosano, setting the stage for one of the most competitive renewals in recent years.

Leading stables from across Namibia, including Khomas Turf Club, Okahandja Racing, Professor Supporters Club, Burger Racing, Aminius Racing, Junius Racing, Otjinene Supporters Club and Southern Horse Racing, will all be represented in the feature race.

Beyond the main event, spectators can look forward to a full programme featuring juvenile, maiden, graduation and division races for both locally bred and imported horses, showcasing the depth of Namibian horse racing.

Speaking ahead of the event, Namibia Horse Racing Association president Gottfried Mootu praised Castlebet's continued investment in the sport, saying the sponsorship has elevated the July Cup into one of Namibia's premier sporting spectacles while providing valuable opportunities for owners, trainers and jockeys.

Excitement is also building within the competing camps. Khomas Turf Club's Roy Rooinasie believes Desert Fox has what it takes to challenge for Castlebet Cup honours, while jockey "Torro" Elton Coetzee is confident that Unbroken Promises can mount a strong challenge in Saturday's feature race.

Fans unable to attend in person will still be able to follow every moment of the action, with the Castlebet July Cup set to be broadcast live on DStv Channel 285, GOtv Channel 25 and streamed on OneUpTwo.com, bringing Namibia's biggest horse racing event to audiences nationwide.

With fierce rivalries, a quality field and the country's leading horses chasing one of the sport's most prestigious titles, all roads lead to Rehoboth for what promises to be another memorable edition of the Castlebet July Cup.
