The coastal town of Lüderitz came alive on 30 August 2025 as Ocean Swallows Rugby Club hosted the Southern Round of the Ongos Valley Sevens Rugby Tournament. The event brought together leading teams from across the region, including Oranjemund Rugby Club, Keetmanshoop Rams, Mariental Rugby Club, NUST Rugby Club, and the hosts, Ocean Swallows.

In a thrilling final, defending champions Oranjemund Rugby Club edged out Keetmanshoop Rams 15–12 to secure their second consecutive Southern Round title. The tightly contested clash kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle, underlining the high level of competition that the OV Sevens has become known for.

Adding to Oranjemund’s celebrations, Gino Wilson was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the second year running, having also claimed the award in last year’s Southern Round held in Keetmanshoop. His consistent performances continue to highlight the calibre of talent showcased at the tournament.

The Southern Round drew an impressive crowd, with fans treated to a vibrant atmosphere featuring a live DJ, food stalls, and community engagement activities. The strong turnout reflected the growing popularity of the OV Sevens, which is supported by main sponsor Ongos Valley Development in partnership with the Namibia Rugby Union.

More than just a rugby tournament, the OV Sevens embodies the vision of building thriving, inclusive, and active communities through sport. It offers young players a platform to shine while uniting fans from across Namibia.

Next up is the Coastal Round, set for 27 September in Walvis Bay, before the highly anticipated Championship Round in Windhoek on 24 and 25 October. With Oranjemund once again setting the bar high, expectations are soaring for an electrifying climax to the 2025 OV Sevens season.
