WALVIS BAY SPCA NEEDS URGENT SUPPORT: A growing number of abandoned and surrendered animals is pushing the Walvis Bay SPCA to its limits, with the non-profit shelter now caring for 136 dogs and cats as kennels fill up and food, medical and cleaning costs mount.

The organisation has no fixed income and relies entirely on donations, sponsorships and fundraising events.

Rising living costs, housing difficulties and a shortage of pet-friendly accommodation are worsening the situation, said chairperson Lindi Dreyer, adding that the shelter needs a steady supply of clean, warm blankets during winter.

Volunteers are welcome to help clean kennels, walk dogs and socialise cats. Every animal is sterilised and vaccinated before adoption.
