21% of workers miserable daily

More than 30% of Namibian employees feel stressed and worried at work, while 21% feel miserable most of the day.

The newly published Gallup State of the Global Workplace Report for 2022 also indicated that 22% of Namibian employees experience anger during most of the day, while 21% are emotionally detached at work.

Only 19% said they felt respected throughout the day, while 29% felt that it’s a good time to find a job in Namibia.

Furthermore, 46% of workers said they are likely to move away from the city or area they are living in for better opportunities.

Stark reality

According to the report, Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest regional percentage of employees (40%) who say they are likely to move in the next 12 months and the lowest regional percentage of employees (10%) living comfortably on present household income.

The region also has the second highest percentage of employees (16%) who say they are not treated with respect all day.

Gallup pointed out that most employees spend 81 396 hours working.

“The only thing we spend more time doing is sleeping.”

However, 60% of people are emotionally detached at work and 19% are miserable all day.
