Zambezi navy, police join forces against illegal fishing
Members of the Namibian Police from Impalila and Kasika police stations in the Zambezi Region, together with the Namibian Navy, conducted a joint operation on Saturday to clamp down on illegal fishing activities along the Chobe River.
According to Zambezi Regional Commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, police conducted river patrols, house-to-house searches in Kasenu Village and crime prevention operations across the Chobe floodplains.
Police reportedly found several individuals illegally fishing in the Chobe River near the Nakabolelwa area, leading to the confiscation of fishing nets.
Crime prevention patrols and police visibility operations were also conducted across the Chobe floodplains from Impalila Island to the Nakabolelwa area.
