Zaamwani says agriculture key to Namibian economic growth
SHORT NEWS
In her year-end address, agriculture, fisheries, water and land reform minister Inge Zaamwani said 2025 marked a turning point for Namibian industry.
She said the year was defined by the inauguration of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who declared agriculture the country’s primary engine for economic growth.
The minister praised the “unwavering commitment” of farmers, fishers and other stakeholders, saying their efforts had helped translate the president’s vision into tangible progress.
She said that despite global constraints, the ministry had successfully leveraged Namibia’s natural resources for the benefit of all citizens, describing this as the start of a new era in service delivery.
“Together we can achieve more,” Zaamwani said, calling for renewed focus on exceeding mandate targets as Namibia moves towards 2026.
