Windhoek mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja inaugurated an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the City\'s head office as part of Zero Emissions Week on Monday, which will be observed from today until 22 September.
The initiative forms part of the zero emissions campaign, which seeks to raise awareness about climate change, air pollution and the importance of adopting clean energy solutions to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future.
Tesla Energy Solutions managing director Elron Awase said large vehicles such as BMWs can be fully charged for as little as N$120.
With a standard charger, this takes approximately four to five hours, while a DC fast charger can achieve the same result in just 30 to 40 minutes. The installed AC charger is a 22 kW unit equipped with two charging ports, providing greater convenience and accessibility.
