Two men die during Gammams water plant repair

Two men died on Friday afternoon while carrying out repair work at the Gammams Water Treatment Plant west of Windhoek.

The cause of death was not immediately confirmed officially, but first responders told Namibian Sun that the two men were suspected to have inhaled poisonous gas while working underground.

A third worker reportedly lost consciousness while attempting to rescue his colleagues. He was rushed to hospital, where he received treatment.

Preliminary information indicates that the deceased were employees of a company contracted to carry out repairs at the facility.

They are believed to have been a supervisor and his subordinate.
